CEREMONY OF HANDING OVER SAMPLES OF ORIENTED STRAND BOARD MADE FROM KENAF CORE
Today, a ceremony was held to hand over samples of Oriented Strand Board made from kenaf core from Universiti Teknologi Mara to the National Kenaf and Tobacco Board at the headquarters of the National Kenaf and Tobacco Board, Kota Bharu, Kelantan.
The handover session was officiated by YBrs. Prof. Dr. Wan Mohd Nazri Wan Abdul Rahman (Deputy Rector of Research, Industry Community & Alumni Network, UiTM Pahang Branch) to YBrs. Tn. Hj. Wan Baharuddin Wan Ismail (Director-General of NKTB). Also present were Ts. Mohd Fadzhel Mohd Nasir (Deputy Director-General of Development), En. Muhammad Zuhdi Mustaffa (Deputy Director General of Management and Operations) and Ts. Mohd Za'im Mohd Nor (Director of Department of Research and Development).
The kenaf-based OSB product was produced through a collaborative research study between NKTB & UiTM entitled “Development of Kenaf Wood from OSB Concept and Potential Market in Malaysia”. The production of kenaf-based OSB products has been successfully produced on a commercial trial basis at the Pioneer OSB Sdn Bhd facility in Kedah.
May this collaboration continue to advance the country's kenaf industry.
