The Deputy Minister of Plantation and Commodities, YB Datuk Chan Foong Hin, officiated the Opening Ceremony of the 2024 National Kenaf Industry Conference (PKIK 2024), organized by the National Kenaf and Tobacco Board (NKTB) at Shaftsbury Asteria Ballroom, Cyberjaya.
PKIK serves as a platform for NKTB staff, government and private agencies, research institutions, IPTA/IPTS as well as industry players to interact and discuss for the development of the country's kenaf.
PKIK 2024 with the theme, "SUSTAINABILITY OF TECHNOLOGY AS THE KENAF INDUSTRY DRIVER " is significant to NKTB in introducing the kenaf industry to the public while discussing and sharing information on development, technology, and current issues related to the country's kenaf industry.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) Exchange Ceremony between NKTB and MTIB, as well as between NKTB and LPNM, also took place, followed by six (6) paper presentations led by two experienced moderators.
The Deputy Minister also had the opportunity to launch a mattress based on Kenaf Non-Woven Thermobonding Technology. Among the benefits of this mattress include biodegradability, hypoallergenic properties, moisture absorption, body support, good ventilation, and lightness.
Also present at the PKIK 2024 Opening Ceremony were YBhg. Datuk Haji Wan Abd Rahim Wan Abdullah (Chairman of NKTB), YBrs. Encik Mazlan Othman (SUBK) KTK, YBrs. Tuan Haji Wan Baharuddin Wan Ismail (Director General of NKTB), and YBhg. Dato’ Dr. Haji Abdul Rasid Ab. Malik (Member of NKTB’s Board of Directors), also the Deputy Chairman of the Malaysian Kenaf Industry Association (PIKM).
