The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) Signing Ceremony between National Kenaf and Tobacco Board (NKTB) and Malaysian Pineapple Industry Board (MPIB) was held at the NKTB Headquarter, Kota Bharu, Kelantan.
YBhg. Datuk Haji Wan Abd Rahim Wan Abdullah (Chairman of NKTB) and YBhg. Tuan Haji Sheikh 'Umar Bagharib Ali (Chairman of MPIB) was present to witness the MoU signing ceremony between NKTB and MPIB represented by Haji Wan Baharuddin Wan Ismail (General Director of NKTB) and Mohd Khairuzamri M. Salleh (General Director of MPIB).
Also present were Ts. Mohd Fadzhel Mohd Nasir (Deputy General Director of Development of NKTB), Encik Muhammad Zuhdi Mustaffa (Deputy General Director of Management and Operation of NKTB) and Encik Elmie Adha Ismail (Director of Product Development and Biotechnology Division of MPIB).
The main purpose of this MoU is to form a cooperative working arrangement between NKTB and MPIB, where NKTB and MPIB will strive to strengthen, and develop research and development of pineapple fiber for the production of products that can be commercialized.
Hopefully with this collaboration, research and development of natural fiber especially on fiber of pineapple can be developed as well as competitive value-added products based on pineapple can be produce in line with National Agricommodity Policy.
